Holly Farm Park Opens

Private donations of more than $700,000, combined with funds from city and state agencies, made the dream of a park in West Portland Park neighborhood come true.

In the Spring 2007 Newsletter, we told you about Holly Farm Park, the much-needed new facility that would open in Southwest Portland. Portland Parks Foundation is delighted to announce that the park is now open and ready for your visit.

We invite you to celebrate the official opening of the park on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 3:00 to 4:30 pm or to visit the park at your leisure.

Holly Farm Park, Portland Park Foundation's first land acquisition and park development project, is proving to be a rousing success. The skate spot is a popular destination for the young adults of the area, and their younger brothers and sisters are busy on the play structure, with its swings, sliding boards and places to climb and run and just be kids. There are places to gather for picnics and old trees and hollies dating from when the site was an actual holly farm.

The park features a "talking circle" where the community can gather for meetings and celebrations of every kind. The design of the park incorporates a bioswale to control and filter stormwater, adding to the health of Portland's rivers.

Holly Farm Park is located at 10819 SW Capitol Highway, Portland 97219
near the Capitol Hill Library.
