Winner of the Tours on HorseBack Raffle is Jan Tuck of California!!!!!!

Here's some info on this old lady from California.
My name is Janine Tuck but I prefer to be called Jan. As a child, my love for horses was IMMENSE! I loved to read and every book I read had to be about a horse. I didn't ride much as a small child but as a young teen, I had several neighbors that had horses that needed exercising so off I went, without one lesson under my belt. My mother used to say that if she hadn't been there when I was born, she would have sworn I was born in a saddle. My greatest dream was to marry a horse rancher. Unfortunately, it didn't come true so my riding experiences throughout my life consisted totally of stable riding.

In 2003, my two youngest granddaughters, ages 11 and 5 1/2, told me that they would love to learn to ride so I made arrangements for lessons. Of course, it brought back such wonderful memories that I decided to buy my first horse so we all could share. So, at age 63, I began to take my first horse-back riding lessons and boy did I learn how much I never knew!! After some months, my instructor suggested that I might enjoy having a gaited horse for myself & the girls could ride the quarter horse. So, I bought a Paso Fino who I still own because I love him so much. In time, this instructor became my very good friend, and because she had broken & trained a young Peruvian Paso, she finally introduced me to this wonderful breed of horse. In August 2004, I purchased a 6-year-old, newly gelded Peruvian Paso named LNR Increible. He comes from awesome bloodlines and, as far as I'm concerned, is very well-named. My pet name for him is "Mi Hijo", Spanish for "my son", but I spell it Mijo. It took us about 6 weeks to be completely bonded and we spend our time riding in the arena at the ranch where he is boarded or we go trail riding. I trust this horse with my life and I've had two episodes on the trail to prove to me how well taken care of I am by him.

My friend, Jody Childs, who is starting her new business of training, instructing riders and showing with Peruvian Pasos, has helped me so much to gain my confidence in riding Mijo, so I think I've finally gotten my nerve up enough to start showing him sometime next year. Another "Silver Fox" entry!! Actually, I hope they put in an additional class called "Nervous Novice". THAT'S ME!!

I still can't believe I've won and I can hardly wait for February to arrive since I have chosen the "Dancin' in the Streets" tour. There are so many wonderful itineraries to choose from that it was hard to make the final choice. If all goes well, I do hope to take other trips with Tours on Horseback in the future.

"I was SOOOOOOO excited this morning when I found out that I had won the trip that I'm not sure I heard everything you said. I'm so black & blue right now from pinching myself' Jan Tuck
