Readership Survey Results
by Cheryl Coupe, editor-in-chief, SAO Industry Update and owner, Scribo
Many thanks to those of you who responded to our newsletter survey. Your input helps us keep our content relevant and interesting. Here are a few tidbits from our results:
More than half of respondents (58%) read the newsletter every month, and three-quarters of respondents read three or more articles in each issue. That gives us lots of motivation! The most important things you want from an industry
newsletter include: calendar of upcoming events; feature articles on the local industry and trends; news about member companies; regular Resource Center articles on topics such as marketing, legal, and hiring issues; and articles that
introduce upcoming events or recap events you may have missed. We'll be focusing on those topics in upcoming issues. Happy reading!
And congratulations to Chris Del Carlo, account manager at Symantec, who is the winner of our survey drawing for a $75 gift certificate to the Portland City Grill.

Open Source Systems: The Pandemic Route to Global Markets
by Scott Goddin, director, Portland U.S. Export Assistance Center

growing rapidly, but the collaborative nature of its business models makes quantification of hard sales numbers elusive. At this stage of the market, the issue will be less "how much money there is to be spent" and more "who's in the game"
