In an effort to protect San Diego’s businesses from undue litigation, the Chamber will file an amicus brief tomorrow in the Brinker Restaurant case - a case with far reaching impact for businesses across the state.  The Brinker case virtually eliminates employees’ ability to hold employers hostage under the California Labor Code for wages, overtime and penalties where the employer made meal and rest breaks available but the employee chose not to take them.  Read more

The Chamber is fighting back against new taxes that could impede economic recovery and cost our region jobs by supporting a campaign launched by the Californians Against Higher Taxes.  Californians have already have already been hit with $12.56 billion in new taxes in 2009.  State legislators should work towards creating employment opportunities, fostering economic growth, and enacting real reforms to solve the state budget crisis rather than imposing new taxes on businesses and residents.  To learn more about the coalition, visit www.morejobsnottaxes.com.

With a new administration in Washington the Chamber’s Third Annual One Region One Voice Washington D.C. Delegation offers a strategic opportunity to engage high-level federal officials and Washington insiders to advocate key regional priorities.  Click here to learn more.

Cross border trade is vital to San Diego's economy.  The Chamber will continue to work with local partners to help facilitate commerce and security along the border as well as reduce border wait times.  To that end, Chamber members are invited to join Alan Bersin of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security at a forum hosted by LEAD San Diego and the University of San Diego Trans-Border Institute for LeaderTrends on September 11.  Click here to register online and select the $15 field when purchasing tickets.

Stop procrastinating and use the resources the Chamber has to ease some of your financial troubles on your everyday expenses. Use the buying power of the Chamber and save 15% to 25% annually on office supplies and a variety of products and services. Click here for information and to sign up for the program.
