Water reliability is key to meeting the needs of businesses in our region. A package of five major pieces of legislation to fix the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta were recently introduced, which call for Delta protection, new water
infrastructure, conservation and the creation of a Delta Stewardship Council. To ensure that Southern California’s interests are looked after, the Chamber has partnered with the Regional Economic Association Leaders (R.E.A.L)
Coalition, to urge that the Legislature take action on one critical component of such comprehensive reform: the development of a governance structure capable of making significant progress toward the co-equal goals of water supply
reliability and environmental quality in a way that is timely, efficient and effective.

In an effort to curtail weapons smuggling, the Mexican government will start screening cars going into Mexico through an automated vehicle identification program. Originally slated to start at the end of last month, Mexico has
delayed the
SIAVE Program (Programa “Sistema de Aforo Vehicular”) in order to do more testing
