Just as many businesses are coping with tough economic times, our City is also in need of support. The City of San Diego is currently facing a $179 million budget gap for fiscal years 2010 and 2011. Mayor Sanders has proposed an 18-month
plan that addresses the budget deficit by applying structural reforms, while protecting City reserves and public services such as fire and police forces. If approved, the budget plan will take effect on the January 1, 2010.
Resolving the budget deficit now will help the City save money and reduce the number of cuts needed early next year. Chamber representatives and a group of business leaders will attend a public hearing Wednesday, December 9, to offer
support for the Mayor’s budget and urge the City Council to take quick and decisive action.
