Pro business groups are concerned that the San Diego County draft General Plan Update (GPU) will not meet the region’s future employment, economic development and regional housing needs because of significant down zoning.
The GPU has not been updated since 1978, and will direct future growth in the unincorporated areas of the County.
Last Thursday, the Chamber, Building Industry Association and San Diego Economic Development Corporation came together to testify before the San Diego County Planning Commission citing concerns with certain key policy elements of the
draft GPU.

San Diego is the only city in the County and among the few cities in the state that charge employers Housing Impact or ‘Linkage’ Fees. In spite of the weak economy, some Council members believe it is appropriate to increase
these fees.
