A recent Cost of State Regulations on California’s Small Businesses Study found that California’s economy is being crippled by overregulation of small businesses. Here are a few lowlights:

  • Total cost of regulation was $134,122.48 per small business in California in 2007
  • Labor income not created or lost was $4,359.55 per small business
  • Indirect business taxes not generated or lost were $57,260.15 per small business, and
  • Roughly one job was lost per small business

In an effort to educate regional small businesses on how to mitigate the impacts of state regulations, the Chamber will host State Assemblyman Dan Logue, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Jobs, Economic Development, and the Economy, and members from our local State delegation for a panel discussion on October 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The legislative delegation will hear input from two panels consisting of small business owners.  There will also be an opportunity for testimony from Chamber members.  Members are invited to submit comments in writing. For more information, e-mail Angelika Villagrana at avillagrana@sdchamber.org.

Now, more than ever, is when you need to take advantage of your Chamber benefits. Click here to check out the Chamber Source and learn about the chambers impressive lineup of FREE seminars and networking events.
