DIGABLE FLICKS
To accompany its Masters of Mid-Century California Modernism exhibition, Balboa Park's Mingei Museum has been holding a series of film screenings. Dubbed "Hollywood Modern," the films were selected because they show off the
"modernist design and archetypal characters of the period." There's two films left if you're into 1960s cinema: On Thursday, July 9, it's Our Man Flint, a 007 spoof staring James Coburn. Then, on Thursday, July 16, the
series wraps up with The Party featuring Peter Sellers. Films start at 7 p.m. with a pre-screening cocktail party at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for museum members, $15 for non-members.

DIGABLE EATS
It's only been open a couple of weeks, so there are still a few rough edges to Cucina Urbana, the newest venture from the Urban Kitchen restaurant group. But, oh man, that polenta appetizer? We could eat it every day, all day.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's that good. Order a cute little mini rosemary potato foccacia loaf as an accompaniment. 505 Laurel St., in Bankers Hill.

DIGABLE TUNES
Even if you work a 9-to-5, there's something about summer that makes it OK to go out on a school night. Which means that at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, you can check out two of San Diego's loveliest-voiced ladies, Jen Grinels and
Jane Lui, who perform along with Riddle the Roar (who play what we'll call "sad gypsy music") for the Athenaeum Music and Arts Library's Acoustic Evenings series. Admission is $10 for members, $15 for everyone else. 1008 Wall St, La
Jolla.

DIGABLE ART
We can't help but consistently be impressed by what the Oceanside Museum of Art has to offer (just wish it weren't so darn far from our North Park HQ). Opening Tuesday, July 14 is Delayed Gratification by San Diego
artist Dave Ghilarducci. For the installation, Ghilarducci built a post-modern bicycle with a generator connected to the back wheel. When someone starts pedaling, words from Aldous Huxley's Brave New World appear via LED. As the
museum describes it, "Instead of simply riding a bike or reading a book, the two activities have been overlaid to the extent that one must experience both activities simultaneously or neither at all." Chew on that for awhile, then head up
to 704 Pier View Way (within walking distance of the Oceanside Transit Center).
