Joseph and Patti Phelps Offer $150,000 Matching Grant Challenge |
 |
|
We are thrilled and honored to announce that Joseph Phelps, founder of Joseph Phelps Vineyard, and his wife Patti have personally offered a $150,000 matching grant challenge to help Clínica Verde raise the remaining
funds necessary to complete construction of its clinic prototype in Nicaragua.
"I understand that Clínica Verde is in need of $300,000 in funding to complete its clinic in Nicaragua," Phelps writes. "As you know, I am very interested in playing a role in helping the clinic reach this goal."
Joseph Phelps is known for producing world-class wines, notably Joseph Phelps Insignia, a tribute to the great wines of Bordeaux. He founded Joseph Phelps Vineyards in 1972, and it became one of the most respected benchmarks of California
wine quality.
The offer by Phelps is conditioned on Clínica Verde obtaining $150,000 from heretofore new or uncommitted donors. Help us to meet this exceptional commitment from a great philanthropist by donating now. Your donation will be matched dollar
for dollar.
We appreciate each and every contribution. All contributions are tax-deductible.

DONOR SPOTLIGHT: Kristin Schuster |
 |
|
Clínica Verde Verde supporter Kristin Schuster is an international SAP professional and mother of 3 based outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Here's what she has to say about contributing to our cause:
"My husband and I decided to support Clínica Verde because of the many lives that will be improved, thanks to the efforts of this cause. We particularly have faith in the progress that will be made in the areas of children's malnutrition
and maternal mortality – one of the highest in the Americas.
"Clínica Verde is not just a great idea for making a difference in the lives of Nicaraguans, but the founders have a passion for their mission. They are committed to figuring out the required budget, raising the funds, engaging
enthusiastic and experienced people to advance this project and executing it professionally and delivering the results. At the same time, the team is thriving for the higher goal of developing a model aiming at improving health and medical
conditions in impoverished regions of the world.
"I'm happy to encourage others to support this very worthy cause."
Help us to build our environmentally sustainable health clinic for families in need.

Design within Reach
Clínica Verde board member and architect Bill Bylund has been busy refining his plan for our clinic prototype in Nicaragua. Bill, a partner in the Napa Valley architectural firm Valley Architects, is LEED-certified. That means he's been
accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council in environmentally sustainable design and construction. He brings many green applications to the clinic plan, including skylights or clerestories in every room, interior glass partitions and
light shelves, a solar-powered water heater, and the use of thick wall technology to create a highly insulated mass for perimeter walls.
If you have questions about Clinica Verde's use of "green" approaches, email Bill at
