By CV Project Manager Johny Siman

We had some changes in management at the construction site in the month of May due to inconsistency with the project schedule. In order to ensure more consistent management of the construction cycle going forward we have hired Architect Noel Ayerdis and his team to manage the project.

Ayerdis has had nine years of experience with Architect Alfredo Osorio in Nicaragua. He put Architect Angel Aburto as the lead man at the site in charge of everyday operations. So far, under the administration of Ayerdis, the project has picked up the pace and we're working towards recuperating the time lost.

After the changes made by Alfredo Osorio on the cistern, we started building the steel structure that will hold the concrete walls. A team of 7 men are working on the more than 30,000 pounds of steel structure that the cistern will take. Fifty-two cubic meters of concrete have been contracted with the Cemex Company, one of the leaders of cement and concrete products in the world.

Walls and concrete columns continue to go up and the building is starting to take shape.

The electric company has approved installation of the transformer that will provide energy for the clinic. Electrical engineer Paulino Jiron has been hired for the installation of the transformer and the first week of June we will have the property energized.

The month of May in Nicaragua is characterized by three things: Mother's Day, Virgin Mary's Month due to the celebration of The Virgin of Fatima and, last but not least, the end of the summer or dry season in Nicaragua and the beginning of winter season. We had quite a bit of showers the last week of May, including the first Tropical Strom of the year which came throughout Central America and caused a lot of damage in El Salvador and Guatemala. Fortunately, Nicargua experienced only heavy rains.

NOTE: We've raised about 90% of our construction goal, but still have about $30,000 to go to complete our construction budget – then we can move on to the work of programs and medical care for our cherished patients. Please contact us if you know any supporters who can assist us in our goal – individuals, small family foundations, businesses with an interest in doing good. We appreciate every suggestion!

I want to help Clinica Verde.

$20 a Month, Without Thinking ...

What if you automatically put aside $20 each month to help those in need? For roughly the cost of a pizza, you can help us change lives. Network for Good makes it easy for you to donate to Clinica Verde on a recurring monthly basis. If you're one of those people who believes in a long-term commitment to your cause of choice, this is a great option. (And we love it when you stick by our side.) Be a part of the long-term success of our work in the world!

I'd like to make my contribution recur monthly.

Is there something you'd like us to include in these newsletters that we're missing? Let us know what kinds of stories or information you want. We'd love to hear from you.

Awesome supporters.

Michael Sidra was born in Sudan and moved to Canada in 1991. He currently works as an Environmental Health Officer and lives with his loving wife and beautiful daughter and son in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

"My family and I are strong supporters of Clinica Verde because we believe in the way they are working to respond to the needs of the people in Nicaragua. The vision Clinica Verde sets out to accomplish goes beyond supplying temporary aid and instead they are working to build the capacity for continued support using sustainable means. In other words, helping people help themselves.

"It is crucial that we support their efforts and have a positive influence on the lives of those most vulnerable. Just as the founders of Clinica Verde were able to be innovative and leaders in their efforts, we too should follow their lead and look for new and innovative ways to offer our support. We may not always be able to give as much financial support as we'd like, but there are other ways of connecting with members of the community to both raise awareness as well as funds for the project.

"Let's use our God given talents to support this great organization. I strongly encourage everyone to get involved and help shape the success of this initiative."

I'd like to help too!
