$50,000 Grant Awarded! |
 |
|
Thank You, Vista Hermosa Foundation!
It's a joy to deliver good news – so here it is. We're proud and honored to announce that Clinica Verde has received a $50,000 grant from the Vista Hermosa Foundation!
The Vista Hermosa Foundation of Prescott, Washington is a private family foundation established in 1990 to support local initiatives for families residing in their community as well as reach out and partner with underserved communities
around the world. It was founded by the Broetje family of Broetje Orchards, producer of FirstFruits apples and cherries, which operates as a business ministry – to serve people through the production of a quality product, creation of
meaningful jobs, and socially responsible use of environmental and financial resources. About 75% of Broetje Orchards profits are donated annually to the Vista Hermosa Foundation (the family's foundation) and related nonprofits that are
working to build sustainable communities both at home and abroad.
Wrote Executive Director Suzanne Broetje: "Your story resonated well with our own experience. You endeavor to use your unique gifts and talents to answer a higher call to serve those in need. You have nurtured an impressive network of
people and organizations that have designed a program based on the principles of sustainability and community health in Nicaragua. We are intrigued by the design and look forward to seeing how the community of Boaco is engaged in the
implementation of this project, both now and in the future."
We at Clinica Verde are so pleased to have partners of such great integrity.

Kelly Lessum is a massage therapist and yoga instructor and Todd Bates is a graphic designer and photographer based in Seattle, Washington.
"As Todd and I welcome our first child later this year I can not imagine her coming into this world without first world medical care and to feel welcomed, safe. We are so grateful that Clinica Verde strives to bring compassionate care to
women and children in Nicaragua.
"As a yoga teacher, a mantra I often use says: 'my enlightenment does not come without your enlightenment.' No matter what we do in our time on Earth, we must be in service to all of mankind's awakening. Clinica Verde's work is a great
representative of this altruistic path, by offering health education and well being to those in need. Please help support their good work; it is your good work."
Sure, I'll help!

Latest Project Update! |
|
By Project Manager Johny Siman
Construction
We have come to the finalization of the first stage of the project, which is the "Dirt Work." This is a very important part of the construction since it will guarantee a strong foundation for the building of Clinica Verde.
It consisted of removing more than 2,800 cubic meters of clayish material and replacing it with over 3,800 cubic meters of good select material. Now the ground is solid and the terrace or pads are ready for the building to be built on it.
So far an investment of $69,000 dollars has been made in order to improve the ground at the property of Clinica Verde. The job as projected on the initial drawings was expected to cost over $110,000 dollars. However, we decided to cut the
main building terrace at an angle hoping that there would be less clayish material on the ground as the soil test suggested, and this brought a savings of about $40,000.
The next stage now is to stop the rainwater from coming into the property, mainly from the highway and the adjacent land. This will consist of building a ditch along the side of the highway extending past the San Nicolas Road where two
20-inch tubes will be installed underneath it in order for the water to flow to the other side of the road.
The other ditch to be built will be on the property and will run from the northeast side of the property all the way to the north and then turning south for the water to come out at the San Nicolas Road on the southwestern part of the
property.
Drawings
After making changes on the structural drawings, Architect Alfredo Osorio has delivered a version of the final drawings that has been sent to the American team for their review. Once they have given their authorization, we will start
refining budgets for the construction phase of the project.
