    WINTER SEASON TRAINING

Most of us are much more active during the summer months than during the winter, hence the winter pounds that can build up! This year combat those excess pounds and hit the gym with a winter training plan.

Your indoor winter training doesn't have to be long and boring. Pump up the pace, pick up the intensity and hit it harder with shorter bouts of exercise and let your body know that you're not messing around.

Work efficiently by combining both cardiovascular components and resistance training at the same time. Move back and forth between speed work that raises your heart rate and stresses your cardiovascular system and weights that build muscular strength. You'll find that short bouts of exercise can be performed at a higher intensity and make the time on the clock fly by while your body is getting a good blast. Try to move quickly between exercises and not allow your body to completely recover before you hit it again with a different movement or muscle group. Mix it up and keep your body guessing and changing!

Talk to a trainer about how to progress your workouts through the winter months or join one of our classes to keep you motivated and moving. No matter how you look at it, getting to the gym now will hold off the excess winter pounds and better prepare you for fun once the sun comes out and the days get longer!

    TAKE OFF RUNNING IN 2007

That's exactly what two STRADA family members did. Dave and Nancy Drummond rang in the New Year with Portland's First Run of 2007. Dave and Nancy have been working out at STRADA since January of last year and saw this as an opportunity to show off their new fitness lifestyle. It was reported that there were no potholes, speed bumps, or chasing dogs but there was a celebratory toast after the finish to ring in 2007. It was a safe family event and fun was had by all! How did you bring in the New Year? Let us know!
