CYCLING SEASON IS HERE!
Challenge yourself in 2007 with one or all of our Training Sessions that will prepare you for a great season on your bike!
We offer a cycling training program for riders of all ages and abilities. Whether your goal is to improve your cycling skills, ride a century or something really big like Cycle Oregon, we are here to give you the bike skills and body you
need. Get results with training programs, training rides, coaching on and off the bike, drills and chalk talks.
All training rides will begin with a chalk talk that covers fitness and cycling issues such as the importance of nutrition, designing your own training program, mechanics, and injury prevention. Your coaches will then run drills and give
you specific techniques and tips to work on during the ride.
We offer three different training rides that progressively get you prepared for your cycling season. Sign up for one or all three! Come join us and meet other riders just like you who have a goal and want to increase their strength,
cardiovascular health, and riding ability.
Early Season Training Ride:
Cycle Clark County - April 28
Mid Season Training Ride:
Cycle Oregon Clinic Ride - June 16
Late Season Training Ride:
Cycle Western Wine Country - August 18
Price: $25 per Training Session or $70 for all three.

EXERCISE MYTHS

With the information highway and all of the confusing roads veering off, it's no wonder everyone is a little lost when it comes to fitness. Here at STRADA we know what really works to keep you on the road to health and fitness and what
doesn't. Check out these top exercise myths and see if your path has fallen off course.
Myth is defined as: "a fable, an invented idea or concept not founded on facts."
-
Women who lift weights will get bulky muscles (G.I. Jane)
-
Spot reducing is possible
-
No pain, no gain (unless you're in our 5:30am fitness class!)
-
Exercise requires a big time commitment (define big...)
-
If you exercise, you can eat whatever you'd like (cupcakes by the dozen - but they're little!)
-
There's a supplement and/or pill you can take that will melt those inches away (and that's why all of us look like the photoshop enhanced magazines, and we still have jobs in the fitness industry)
If you subscribe to any of the above notions, then you might want to come in and have a talk with us. I think we can help you set things straight...
EASY OUTINGS
This time of year some of us get a little antsy to get outdoors and experience some of the spectacular areas that keep us living here! Fortunately there are some great places close to home, so even if you only have an hour or two, you can
still escape. So next time that sun shines through that window, tell the boss you don't feel good and head out to get some recuperation - nature IS the perfect medicine.
Lewis & Clark State Recreation Area
Spend an hour or two exploring the wildlife along the Columbia River. Take I-84 east to Exit 18 and loop North under the freeway, park in the undeveloped lot. Pick one of the many trails and go explore.
Mosier Tunnels
The Historic Columbia River Highway Trail is open only to pedestrians and cyclists and runs along the cliffs of the Columbia between Hood River and Mosier. An out and back quiet paved trail give you beautiful view points and a trip through
the Mosier Tunnels. Take I-84 east to Exit 64 in Hood River and follow the signs to Mark O. Hatfield Trailhead.
Oxbow Park
Just 20 miles from Portland the park is 1,000 acres of dense forest, grassy clearings, sandy river frontage, and sheer canyon walls. Take I-84 east to Exit 16 in Gresham. Go south to Division Street. Turn left, and follow the signs to the
park.
Tryon State Park
Minutes from downtown Portland this is Oregon's only State Park within a metropolitan area. Wander the peaceful nature trails and along Tryon Creek where steelhead trout actually do run in a city. Take I-5 south to Exit to SW
Terwilliger.
SUPER LIMBO'S SUCCESS

It is possible to lose inches and have fun. Since last fall Lindsey 'Limbo' Taylor has taken control of her path and lost 5-in-5; that's 5 inches in 5 months! Working with personal trainer Gina Marchi, she has discovered a fitness level
she never dreamed possible. Out of one-on-one personal training, she was introduced to cycling as a new adventure. She joined STRADA's Cycling Series last year and hasn't stopped moving yet. Limbo has since taken on cycling in Italy,
local cycling events, running and now has committed to taking on 500 miles of cycling in a week on Cycle Oregon XX this fall. Well done, Lindsey! And now that it's public, we'll all be watching you for inspiration....no pressure.
OH ANNIE....
This month we say so long, but not goodbye, to long time STRADA family member Annie Groeninger. Our morning spitfire will be packing her things and heading north up the Amazon (Amazon.com, that is) to Seattle. Annie's been a great
inspiration to everyone here at STRADA and we'll miss her! Our early mornings just won't be the same without her (albeit a little quieter, perhaps, but someone had to wake us all up!) All of us here wish her the best of luck on her new
adventure...
