Intermediate Precious Metal Clay Workshop - Silver Jewelry Design
10am-5pm, Sunday, Nov 23 (Santa Clara)
**Space Limited to 8. Register by Friday Nov 14**

PRE-REQUISITE: an intro PMC class

Take your PMC skills to the next level! ...or work on your own projects as an Open Studio Session.

For those who've taken a PMC class before, certified PMC instructor & artist Nancy Larkin will help you:

o Create Hollow Silver Beads & Other Hollow Forms
Painting PMC paste or "slip" layers onto a base of cork clay creates hollow core objects like silver beads. When fired, the cork clay burns away, leaving a hollow bead. Hollow forms give a sense of depth to pieces of jewelry without making them heavy.

o PMC Finishing Techniques & At-Home Skills
Nancy will teach how to professional techniques to finish your jewelry pieces, and advise you on all you need to start doing PMC at home with a small kiln.

o Wire Wrapping
Wire wrapping is a great complimentary skill for metal clay artists. You can embed fine silver wire (.999) into your project and fire it in place. Then form the wire into coils or wraps after firing and finishing.

You'll also learn how to make your own fine silver (.999) eyelets to use in your metal clay work. (Fine silver eyelets cost as much as 50 cents a piece from metal clay suppliers. That's nuts!). Plus, you'll learn to form uniform loops, coils and wraps. Our text for the class is "All Wired Up" by Mark Lareau (not included.)
